"My CD days, I do dread! cos I have to wake up pretty early every thursday and realize that my khaki trousers and white T-Shirts are so so rumpled but then there's no electricity to iron them.... so I go into serious prayers begging God for light.... lol!" - 'Slims
Welcome to Ajuwaya Days! Here you can express yourself about your days as Youth Corper, in Naija and anywhere else, especially your most memorable days.
Mind you, A Corper in Nigeria is usually a University or Polythecnic Graduate, who is enlisted to serve the Nation for 11 months (including a 21-day Para-military Orientation Camp), and it is called the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Scheme.
I hear a lot of funny stories from Youth Corpers - funny now, but most probably not funny at the times they happened. Stories about the Orientation Camps, Corpers' monthly allowance from the Government and how the amount is sooo perfect (lol!), about being broke, busted and disgusted, Community Development in a strange land, Communal clashes witnessed by Corpers, and happy stories too, etc.
I have a good number of these stories, myself, so look out for them right here, but... to make things a bit more interesting, YOU can share your own stories about your Memorable Ajuwaya Days, even funny ajuwaya pictures too.
Send your gist as an email to streetgist@gmail.com and they will be publshed pronto!
Pls, if you are sending in photos, also include a description of what was going on and some of the names you can remember.
Hey let's share these stories and who knows, even prepare fresh Otondos (Corpers) for their own 11 months - eventhough I believe every Corper has a unique experience.
Keep 'em coming, Enjoy The Ajuwaya Days!
One Love,

NB: I understand there's a Scheme like the NYSC running in Rome, so Romans are welcome to share their stories too.... lol! EVERYONE is welcome....
